Just as the picture gallery in the Happy Bottom Riding Club (formally, Rancho Oro Verde Fly-Inn Dude Ranch, Pancho Barnes, prop.) the 14th TRS Honor Roll was not the place to be. Qualifying for the banner required being shot down then killed or captured—rescued aviators were non-qualifiers. Divining the protocol governing the order of name placement on the banner is for habitués of WWII’s Bletchley Park. (Photo credit: library of Dick Hammaker; used by permission)

Robey Price compiled this chronology of RF-4C losses in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam Conflict. Reading this chronology recalls a local spirit monger’s reference to some of his customers and seems about right: There’s a lot of heartbreak coming through that door.
